Children Illustrate What's Right in Irondale

children artFirst graders at Grantswood Elementary School were asked the question: "How can we use our community resources to persuade people to visit Irondale?"  Their task was to demonstrate in artwork all the things that make the City of Irondale a great place to live.

Attendees at the Chamber's October luncheon last week were treated to a display of the children's colorful artwork.  (Click here, then click the right arrow to see several photos.)

IPD "Beards & Badges" is Back!

For the second year in a row, members of the Irondale Police Department will be allowed to grow beards for three months as a charity fund raiser.  This year's "Badges and Beards" will benefit Irondale's own Mitchell's Place.

Male officers who contribute at least $100 to the cause will be permitted to grow facial hair (normally against regulations) from now until the end of the year.  Female members of the department who elect to participate can wear Mitchell's Place t-shirts and hats to work.
